IN A CREATIVE WORLD TORN BETWEEN MINIMALISM & MAXIMALISM, FORNASETTI STANDS ABOVE ANY CONTROVERSY.

Sam Baron Q&A • His work as creative director at Fabrica first put him on the contemporary design map years ago. Since then, he’s been sought after by numerous prestigious international brands, often drawn to their fascinating archives —rich with cultural and historical significance—in search of the key elements he needs to create designs that elevate these brands to unexpected places while remaining true to their history and tradition. From Dior and Sèvres to Bitossi, Bosa, Mateus, and Vista Alegre, Baron leaves his mark with subtlety, a poetic touch, and a hint of humor.

SEMA TOPALOĞLU “Working with glass is making the invisible visible” • The creations of this Turkish designer are born, grow, reproduce, take over spaces and flood them with life, vibration, and color… She achieves this by treating natural materials in a fresh and contemporary way and by reviving artisanal techniques. We spoke with her to learn more about her work and projects.

FormaFantasma “We are trying to revive a certain level of criticality—it feels coherent with the time we live in” • Two of their most recent projects—one of them can be seen at FAI Negozio Olivetti in Venice until the end of September—exemplify the unconventional design practice of Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin: working with ideas, pursuing them until they take material form, and conveying a message through that materiality. We discuss their unique pursuits and outcomes in this extensive interview.

AGNÈS VARDA: MAKING HISTORY FROM ONE’S COURTYARD • The Musée Carnavalet retraces the history of Paris through the eyes of Agnès Varda —through her photographic and cinematic gaze. We walk through the exhibition and Varda’s Paris guided by its curator, Anne de Mondenard.

AN EXTRAORDINARY FURY / THE ACTRESSES’ WHISPERER • He opens the window and looks out at reality. He always aims to capture the extraordinary and, when the ordinary needs a push, he’s there to apply that transformative spark that has defined his more than 30-year career as a maker of fiction. Félix Sabroso’s filmography has been protected by his devotion to serving only his own will, remaining true to his desires regardless of how many years might pass between projects. And ever since Excuse Me Darling, but Lucas Loved Me (Perdona bonita, pero Lucas me quería a mí), it’s been characterized by the loyalty and enthusiasm of actors devoted to his highly personal way of revolutionizing the everyday. And Furia, his new and much-anticipated series (premiering in July on Max), is no exception. Carmen Machi, Candela Peña, Cecilia Roth, Nathalie Poza, and Pilar Castro take on the world in the face of extortion, oppression, deceit, and manipulation to deliver a satirical, overflowing, and familiar catharsis—sometimes painful, but always shared. And, of course, extraordinary. It’s a Félix thing.

RICK OWENS, according to Rick Owens • It will feature a hundred of his creations—installations, videos, photos, works by artists who have influenced him. Even a meticulous recreation of his bedroom. And Owens himself as the creative director. A highlight of the summer program at the Palais Galliera in Paris, Temple of Love is not a typical retrospective. It’s a personal reflection on the creative (and life) ethos of a designer who has reshaped what we understand as fashion.

CREATING TO REMEMBER • The Loewe Foundation Craft Prize was born with a clear goal: to reclaim the value of craftsmanship and preserve a way of making that reminds us of the essential role of the human touch. Now in its eighth edition, which will exhibit the finalists› work at the...
